I think one of the main challenges facing General Petraeus is addressing the timber mafia in Kunar and Nurstian.
Taliban, Lashkar-e-Toiba, and the Korengal insurgency facilitate smuggling the timber to Pakistan in exchange for having the timber mafia kill the U.S. soldiers.
Would General Petraeus address it as a security issue or a management issue?
