Stevenson’s army, February 6
All you really need today is the NYT:
– It reveals Ukraine briefing to Congress, emphasizing Russian capabilities despite uncertain intentions.
– It reminds how Ukraine gave up nuclear weapons.
– It surveys US options, noting defense of Ukraine is off the table.
– And it details the strange recent career of former LtGen Mike Flynn.
My SAIS colleague Charlie Stevenson distributes this almost daily news digest of foreign/defense/national security policy to “Stevenson’s army” via Googlegroups. I republish here. To get Stevenson’s army by email, send a blank email (no subject or text in the body) to stevensons-army+subscribe@googlegroups.com. You’ll get an email confirming your join request. Click “Join This Group” and follow the instructions to join. Once you have joined, you can adjust your email delivery preferences (if you want every email or a digest of the emails).

The article on Mike Flynn is interesting. His radicalization is not unlike what we’ve seen in Syria. He either knows that or don’t. He should. Either way, it would interesting to know which is it.
